Neuro-optometry is a subdivision of the profession that focuses on the diagnoses and treatments of neurological disorders that manifest in the eyes. Ocular manifestation of neurological conditions can be due to a shock of the visual pathway. One example of these is post-traumatic vision syndrome (PTVS) after a traumatic brain injury (TBI) or a concussion, as a result of either a motor vehicle accident or a sports injury. Other examples include the after-effect of a stroke, physical disabilities, etc.
Here, at Aperture, we have doctors that are specifically trained and officially designated to treat and manage these sensory or motor disorders. Often, vision training therapy is involved to train the eyes to work together as a team. There may be other forms of treatment as well, which vary from patient to patient. If you, or someone you know, recently suffered a traumatic event, or if you are experiencing sudden-onset of focusing difficulties or double, we can help!
